Turning Off Auto Correction on iPhone
A couple of days ago, I came across a Hacker News question inquiring about the perceived decrease in quality of iOS auto-correction.
I then tried turning it off. Almost instantly, the typing experience felt a lot more sane. It’s downright weird how much better it feels to not have to worry about iOS substituting seemingly random words for nonsense. If you’re anything like me, try turning it off. It won’t turn off word suggestions though, so you can always manually complete a word by tapping on the selection bar above the keyboard.
There’s also the following gem from former iPhone product designer Ken Kocienda:
He created the original auto-correction implementation. Simple things are often better than involved ones.
